WE ARE THE GIVING GENIE

The Giving Genie was born out of a deep commitment to empowering Mozambique’s marginalized communities, with a special focus on women and youth. Guided by our founder—a passionate visionary and social entrepreneur—and a team of dedicated professionals, we are on a mission to create lasting, positive change through innovative programs that uplift individuals and strengthen communities.

OUR CORE INITIATIVES AND PROGRAMS
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization recognized by the IRS (Tax ID: 87-4590633), we are committed to uplifting marginalized communities. Through impactful programs, we extend critical support to communities in Mozambique. All contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
NURTURING FUTURES
Nurturing Futures partners with schools and orphanages to create lasting impact, including through The Giving Genie Magic Quillow project, which focuses on disaster preparedness and child protection. Within Nurturing Futures, the Genie Safe Initiative delivers a comprehensive curriculum to primary and secondary students, helping them identify and mitigate risks to enhance safety and preparedness. The Genie Read Program promotes literacy by teaching foundational reading and English skills to young children (Preschool–2nd Grade) in Mozambique. Through books, storytelling, and targeted educational support, it inspires a lifelong love of learning and empowers underserved schools.
EMPOWER HER
The Giving Genie Empower Her Program is a dedicated initiative designed to provide comprehensive support, mentorship, and resources to women, particularly those from underserved or marginalized communities. By focusing on holistic empowerment, the program bridges the gap between ambition and opportunity through professional skill-building, financial literacy workshops, and personal development coaching. A critical pillar of the initiative is its entrepreneurial support, where donors provide vital funding for female-led start-ups, ensuring that women have the capital necessary to launch and scale their businesses. By fostering a collaborative environment that combines leadership training with direct financial investment, Empower Her serves as a catalyst for social mobility, equipping women to break systemic barriers and achieve lasting economic independence.

INHAMBANE PROVINCE, MOZAMBIQUE
In Inhassoro, our Education Program collaborates with Instituto Industrial e Comercial Estrela do Mar, offering tuition assistance and vocational training to empower women. Our Genie Corps Emergency Response Program ensures youth, particularly women, have essential emergency skills, while The Giving Genie Magic-Quillow Project provides comfort and protection for orphan beneficiaries during crises, complemented by child safety and disaster preparedness curriculum. Our flagship program, Empower Her, mentors young women with personalized support, workshops, and resources, fostering leadership skills for a brighter future.

MANICA PROVINCE, MOZAMBIQUE
In Mozambique's Manica Province, The Giving Genie empowers marginalized children and women, building resilience against frequent natural disasters and systemic inequalities. The Genie Safe Initiative cultivates "Jovens Mentores" (JOMENs) with critical disaster preparedness and public health knowledge, enabling them to disseminate life-saving information and build informed, proactive communities. Complementing this, the Empower Her program addresses the unique challenges faced by women, providing mental health support, fostering economic independence through entrepreneurship funding, and combating gender-based violence. By simultaneously equipping youth with essential survival skills and empowering women to thrive, The Giving Genie cultivates a future of strength, equality, and resilience throughout the province.

SOFALA PROVINCE, MOZAMBIQUE
In Sofala Province, where natural disasters and limited resources threaten stability, The Giving Genie is cultivating lasting change. The Genie Safe Initiative empowers "Jovens Mentores" with critical disaster preparedness, transforming them into community safety leaders. The Empower Her program dismantles gender inequality by equipping women with vital skills, including entrepreneurship workshops to foster economic independence, and advocating against harmful practices like child marriage. Recognizing the critical need for early education, Genie Read introduces preschool students to English while fostering foundational literacy through engaging resources and age-appropriate materials. By strategically investing in youth, women, and early education, The Giving Genie is building a more resilient, economically empowered, and equitable Sofala Province

TETE PROVINCE, MOZAMBIQUE
In Tete Province, where many women face limited access to education, financial resources, and professional opportunities, The Giving Genie is advancing economic empowerment through the Empower Her program. Women in rural communities
often carry the economic responsibility of their families yet lack access to training, mentorship, and startup capital necessary to build sustainable livelihoods. Through Empower Her, The Giving Genie provides women with entrepreneurship training, financial literacy education, and mentorship that transforms ambition into opportunity. Participants learn how to develop business plans, register small enterprises, open commercial bank accounts, and manage income-generating activities that strengthen household stability. By investing in women’s leadership and entrepreneurship, The Giving Genie is helping women in Tete Province move beyond survival toward economic independence, community leadership, and long-term social mobility. These women are not only building businesses—they are creating ripple effects of opportunity for their families and communities.

ZAMBEZIA PROVINCE, MOZAMBIQUE
In Zambezia Province, where economic inequality and limited employment opportunities disproportionately impact women, The Giving Genie is expanding the Empower Her program to unlock pathways toward financial independence and leadership. Many women in the region possess the drive to build businesses but lack access to entrepreneurial training, financial tools, and mentorship. The Empower Her program addresses these barriers by equipping women with the knowledge and practical skills needed to start and sustain small enterprises. Through hands-on workshops, business development guidance, and financial literacy training, participants gain the confidence and resources to launch ventures that strengthen household incomes and stimulate local economic growth. By empowering women entrepreneurs in Zambezia, The Giving Genie is helping cultivate a new generation of female leaders who are driving economic resilience,
breaking cycles of poverty, and shaping stronger, more equitable communities.
VOICES OF IMPACT

"My name is Regina Raul, and being part of the Empower Her program has changed
my life. Before this opportunity, I had a dream of opening my own business but did not know how I would make it real. Through the Empower Her training, I learned how to develop a business plan, manage finances, and believe in my ability to become an entrepreneur. With the support of The Giving Genie, I received a seed grant that helped me launch my shop, Banca Fixa Tia Regina. This opportunity means more than starting a business—it allows me to support my family and become a role model for other women in my community. I am proud to now serve as an Empower Her Ambassador, working alongside SADECO to mentor other women who are beginning their own journeys. I want to help them see that with the right support and knowledge, we can create our own opportunities. The Giving Genie believed in me. Because of this support, I now believe even more in myself and in the future I can build for my community."

"My name is Calisto, and through the support of The Giving Genie, I have been able to continue my education and develop skills that are changing my future. Through the Giving Genie Education Program, I have been studying electrical vocational training, learning how to work with electrical systems, and gaining the technical knowledge needed to build a stable career. These skills will allow me to support my family and contribute to the development of my community.
In addition to my studies, I also participated in the Genie Corps Emergency Response Program (GCERP), where I received training in first aid, emergency response, and disaster preparedness. This training taught me how to respond in emergencies and help protect the people in my community. The Giving Genie has given me the opportunity not only to learn, but also to become someone who can serve and support others. I am proud to use the knowledge and training I have gained to help build a safer and stronger future for those around me."

"My name is Daniel. I am 5 years old, and I live at the orphanage in Inhassoro. Before, life was very hard for me. My mother was very sick, and I did not always have a safe home. Now I live at the orphanage where people take care of me. I like going to school because it makes me happy. My favorite subject is art, and I like to play with my friends. My favorite animal is a monkey, and my favorite color is red.
When I got my Magic Quillow, I was very happy because it is something that belongs to me. I wanted lions on my Quillow because lions are strong and brave. When I hold my Quillow, I feel warm and safe. I like learning new things and playing with my friend Chico. My Quillow makes me smile."
